My name is Shamal Ali, and I came from Iraq. I would like to tell a story about myself and my country. Many years ago Iraq was a very rich country. Before Saddam Hussain became president of Iraq we were had everything and economically was absolutely so good. Also people were very happy but when Saddam became the president of Iraq the situation has changed, as he decided to start a war with Iran and invaded Kuwait.
Saddam was an enemy to Kurdish people. He was very selfish, always thinking about himself and forgot the people of Iraq. He didn’t respect Human Rights. Furthermore, Saddam’s government in 1988 has genocide about 182,000 Kurdish people under the name Anfal Campaign. He decided to launch an anti-Kurdish attack by using biological weapon to Halabj on Friday, 17 March 1988. As a result, 5000 people were killed in few hours. I have the proof with me as you can see the picture below. 

Who is responsible for the crime? After that, it gets more chaotic and famine, so, that is why I could not study over there. Also, the situation was very difficult, and we did not like him. We hoped that Saddam moves from being the president of Iraq. We have dreamed about freedom and safety for the people but it was and still away that will never come back again. When USA decided attacking Iraq, we were very happy about that, because we thought if USA is coming to Iraq it is good for us. However, when they came in, we saw them bringing more disorder to our country than before. That is why it was very confusing for us, and we did not know what we should do. Another time innocent Iraqis got bombed, kidnapped and killed, as you may see in the picture following.

For the reason resort I am decided left my country illegal to Europe firstly I walked three days to Turkey there is no buses. There is no car and it was raining quite often during the days I had big bags of food with me so I could eat along the way because there is no restaurants it was interesting. Finally arrived Turkey I stayed over there about ten days after that I came by lorry I was hiding myself underneath the lorry between tyres I was staying there for long hours it was very difficulties for me because the weather very cold and I was starving. So I didn’t know my destiny when arrived to United Kingdom after research recorded my case and apply for asylum. But the home office refused my case although they believe that happened to my country. I living in UK nearly three years but sometimes I heard from some people swore to me one day I walked from Hilltown to city centre group of men stopped me and called “hey ,you black head your terrorist they are insult to me in fact I was very uncomfortable but I did not speak to them. I do not know why people wrong understand sometimes I was talking with some people they asked me about religion of Moslem they thought the terrorist are Moslem. But opposite they are not Moslem because Quran advise the people to be honest, not liars, friendly look after the people, help poor people finally don’t kill the people. This is Moslem religion. I would like everybody know what my concerns are. Finally, I hope the people do not make differentiate between us and another people.
